About Institute of Medicine (Maharajgunj Medical Campus)
Maharajgunj Medical Campus, the central constituent campus of the Institute of Medicine (IOM), is Nepal’s pioneer public state medical institution, established in 1972 under Tribhuvan University. Situated in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, IOM serves as the country’s apex seat for medical education, specialized clinical practice, and health systems research.
The campus operates in close synergy with the 1,000-bed Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) and specialized tertiary centers, including the BP Koirala Lions Center for Ophthalmic Studies and the Suresh Wagle Cancer Center. IOM offers comprehensive undergraduate (MBBS), postgraduate (MD/MS), and sub-specialty (DM/MCh) programs, and is globally recognized and listed by the Nepal Medical Council (NMC), WHO, WDOMS, ECFMG, and the National Medical Commission (NMC India).

Eligibility Criteria
- • Affiliation:Tribhuvan University (TU)
- • Academic Requirement:10+2 / Higher Secondary with ≥50% aggregate in PCB (or CGPA ≥2.4)
- • Core Subjects:Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English
- • Age Limit:Minimum 17 years by Dec 31 of admission year
- • Qualifying Exam:MECEE-BL (50th percentile) or qualified NEET-UG score
