Founded in 1814 by royal decree of Emperor Alexander I, Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) is the third-oldest medical school in Russia and a leading regional authority in medical education and public health. Situated in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, KSMU boasts over two centuries of institutional heritage, having trained thousands of international medical practitioners since introducing its pioneering English-medium curriculum in 1996.
Clinical instruction takes place across a vast regional network of 18 affiliated municipal and state hospitals, including the Republican Clinical Hospital and the Interregional Clinical Diagnostic Center, offering over 9,000 beds for practical clinical rotations.
