Course Overview
The Bachelor of Engineering Technology – Civil Engineering (Level 7) at SIT prepares students for careers supporting the planning, construction, and maintenance of civil infrastructure. The programme covers structural engineering, surveying, transportation systems, geotechnical engineering, construction technology, water engineering, engineering materials, and project management.
Practical laboratories, design projects, and industry engagement strengthen technical and professional skills. Graduates are prepared for employment in engineering consultancies, construction companies, local government, infrastructure organisations, and civil engineering project management.
Entry Requirements
- NCEA Level 3 meeting New Zealand university entrance requirements including 3 subjects with 14+ credits each (physics, calculus, and one approved subject)
- Literacy: 10 credits at Level 2 or above (5 in reading, 5 in writing); Numeracy: 10 credits at Level 1 or above
- Alternatively, completed New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (NZDE) or equivalent qualification
- English language proficiency meeting technical program requirements
- Submission of academic transcripts and secondary school records
