Course Overview
The Bachelor of Science (Marine Science) examines the physical, chemical, biological, and ecological processes that shape marine and coastal environments. Students study oceanography, marine ecology, fisheries science, marine biodiversity, conservation, and environmental monitoring while participating in fieldwork, laboratory investigations, and coastal research activities.
The programme develops practical skills in marine sampling, data analysis, ecological assessment, and scientific communication. Emphasis is placed on sustainable management of marine resources and addressing global environmental challenges affecting oceans. Graduates are prepared for careers in marine research, environmental consultancy, conservation organizations, fisheries management, and government agencies.
Entry Requirements
- Completion of 10 + 2 with minimum 70% to 75% aggregate, including two laboratory science subjects.
- IELTS 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in each band), TOEFL iBT 88, PTE 61, or Duolingo 110.
- Fieldwork medical fitness assessment and science subject evaluation.
- High school mark sheets, statement of purpose, and letters of recommendation.
- Applicants must satisfy programme-specific academic eligibility, and for postgraduate programmes hold a recognised Bachelor’s degree (minimum Second Class Honours Grade 1 or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Some programmes may also require relevant work experience, an interview, or a portfolio where specified.
