Course Overview
The Bachelor of Science (Midwifery) prepares students to provide safe, evidence-based care for women, newborns, and families throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period. The programme combines studies in anatomy, physiology, reproductive health, neonatal care, pharmacology, and maternal wellbeing with extensive supervised clinical placements in healthcare settings.
Students develop the clinical competence, communication skills, and professional confidence required to support women through every stage of maternity care. Emphasis is placed on person-centred practice, ethical decision-making, health promotion, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Graduates are equipped to work as registered midwives in hospitals, maternity units, community healthcare services, and specialist maternal care environments.
Entry Requirements
- Completion of 10 + 2 with a minimum 70% to 75% aggregate including Biology and Chemistry.
- IELTS 7.0 (with no band less than 6.5), TOEFL iBT 95, or PTE 65.
- Occupational health assessment, police vetting, and clinical suitability interview.
- High school transcripts, motivation letter, health screening, and academic references.
- Applicants must satisfy programme-specific academic eligibility, and for postgraduate programmes hold a recognised Bachelor’s degree (minimum Second Class Honours Grade 1 or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Some programmes may also require relevant work experience, an interview, or a portfolio where specified.
