Course Overview
The BSc (Hons) Intellectual Disability Nursing prepares students to provide person-centred nursing care that supports the health, independence, and wellbeing of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Students study nursing science, communication, behavioural support, psychology, health promotion, and professional practice while gaining practical experience through clinical placements.
The programme emphasizes advocacy, inclusion, ethical care, and multidisciplinary collaboration across community and healthcare settings. Students develop strong clinical, interpersonal, and decision-making skills to meet diverse care needs. Entry Requirements
- Completion of 10 + 2 with a minimum aggregate of 65% including Science subjects and English (Subject to NMBI registration approval).
- IELTS 7.0 (with no band less than 6.5 or NMBI equivalent), TOEFL iBT 94, or OET standards.
- Garda Vetting clearance, occupational health check, and disability care aptitude screening.
- Certified 10 + 2 mark sheets, statement of purpose focused on nursing ethics, and character references.
- NMBI credential recognition and institutional admissions panel interview.
