Course Overview
The Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) at Eastern Institute of Technology prepares future educators to support children’s learning, development, and wellbeing from birth to school age. The programme explores child development, curriculum design, inclusive education, learning assessment, family engagement, bicultural education, and professional teaching practice.
Students complete extensive practicum placements in licensed early childhood centres where they apply educational theory in authentic settings. Graduates are prepared for teacher registration and careers within early childhood education services throughout New Zealand.
Entry Requirements
- University Entrance (UE) standard through NCEA, CIE, or IB qualifications
- Meeting required literacy and numeracy credits specified by the Teaching Council
- English language proficiency meeting education council standards (IELTS 7.0 or equivalent)
- Submission of academic transcripts, personal statement, and referee reports
- Satisfactory completion of safety vetting and police check requirements
