The Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Waikato prepares students to work with individuals, families, and communities facing social, economic, and health-related challenges. The programme covers social policy, community development, child and family wellbeing, mental health, cultural competence, human rights, advocacy, and professional ethics.
Students complete extensive supervised field placements that provide practical experience in social service organisations and government agencies. Graduates develop the knowledge and professional skills required for social work practice and are prepared to pursue registration as social workers in New Zealand across diverse community and healthcare settings.
