Course Overview

Cambrian College’s Civil Engineering Technician diploma program provides practical training in infrastructure design, structural analysis, construction surveying, and materials testing. Students master industry-standard software tools including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS for municipal engineering projects.

The hands-on curriculum includes laboratory testing of concrete, asphalt, and soils alongside field surveying exercises. Students learn environmental regulation compliance, quality control inspection, and construction project estimation. Graduates are prepared for field and office technical positions with engineering consultants, contractors, and public works departments.

Entry Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent or mature student status
  • Grade 12 Academic English (C or U stream)
  • Grade 12 Mathematics (C or U stream, minimum 60%)
  • IELTS 6.0 overall (no band lower than 5.5) or TOEFL iBT 80
  • Basic computer proficiency
