Course Overview
The Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) provides a comprehensive foundation in legal principles while developing the analytical and advocacy skills required for professional legal practice. Students study constitutional law, contract law, criminal law, property law, European Union law, and legal research through an intellectually challenging curriculum.
The programme encourages critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and the practical application of legal concepts to contemporary issues. Moot court exercises, legal writing, and case analysis help students build strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Graduates are prepared for careers in legal practice, public service, corporate law, policymaking, or further postgraduate legal education.
Entry Requirements
- Completion of 10 + 2 (Higher Secondary Certificate) with a minimum 75% aggregate score across top subjects.
- IELTS 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in each band), TOEFL iBT 88, PTE 61, or Duolingo 110.
- Critical thinking and analytical writing evaluation based on secondary school results.
- High school mark sheets, academic recommendation letters, and a statement of purpose.
- Applicants must satisfy programme-specific academic eligibility, and for postgraduate programmes hold a recognised Bachelor’s degree (minimum Second Class Honours Grade 1 or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Some programmes may also require relevant work experience, an interview, or a portfolio where specified.
