Course Overview
The Master of Laws (Peace Operations, Humanitarian Law and Conflict) explores the legal and institutional frameworks governing armed conflict, peacekeeping, and humanitarian action. Students study international humanitarian law, conflict resolution, peace operations, human rights protection, and international security while examining real-world conflict situations.
The programme develops advanced analytical and research skills through interdisciplinary learning and policy-focused discussions. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of the legal responsibilities of states, international organizations, and humanitarian actors during conflicts. Graduates are equipped for careers in international law, humanitarian organizations, peacebuilding institutions, diplomacy, and global security policy.
Entry Requirements
- Certified copy of a recognized bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, or International Affairs (minimum 55% or 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale).
- IELTS 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in each band), TOEFL iBT 88, PTE 61, or Duolingo 110.
- Portfolio review of relevant humanitarian activities or international law coursework.
- CV/resume, academic transcripts, detailed statement of purpose, and two recommendation letters.
- Applicants must satisfy programme-specific academic eligibility, and for postgraduate programmes hold a recognised Bachelor’s degree (minimum Second Class Honours Grade 1 or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Some programmes may also require relevant work experience, an interview, or a portfolio where specified.
