Course Overview
The Master of Laws (International Human Rights) provides an advanced understanding of international human rights law and the legal mechanisms that protect individual freedoms worldwide. Students explore international treaties, humanitarian law, equality legislation, transitional justice, and accountability while examining current global human rights challenges.
The programme develops expertise in legal analysis, advocacy, and policy evaluation through research-led teaching and practical case studies. Students gain the skills required to assess complex human rights issues within international legal and institutional frameworks. Graduates pursue careers with international organizations, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, legal practice, and human rights advocacy.
Entry Requirements
- Certified copy of a recognized Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or social science degree (minimum 55% or 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale).
- IELTS 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in each band), TOEFL iBT 88, PTE 61, or Duolingo 110.
- Assessment of relevant work, volunteer, or human rights advocacy experience.
- Detailed CV/resume, university transcripts, statement of purpose, and two letters of recommendation.
- Applicants must satisfy programme-specific academic eligibility, and for postgraduate programmes hold a recognised Bachelor’s degree (minimum Second Class Honours Grade 1 or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Some programmes may also require relevant work experience, an interview, or a portfolio where specified.
